Discover quickly if you are in menopause or perimenopause with the help of our menopause test. It provides rapid answers by measuring the level of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), which is a common indicator of these transitional phases in a woman’s life. Hormonal changes in the body regulate the menstrual cycle, and when estrogen production decreases, the body starts increasing the production of FSH, which normally governs the development of eggs in women.

If you want to assess additional female hormones, we recommend to combine the Menopause test with our Estrogen & Progesterone test.

Menopause Test, Measures FSH

Discover if you are going through menopause with the help of our rapid test. The test measures the level of hormone FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone), which increases in the body during menopause. By obtaining information on whether you are in perimenopause, you can take preventive measures against menopause-related health risks, such as osteoporosis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, and an increased risk of heart disease.

About Menopause

For most women, the transition into menopause occurs around the age of 45-50. Menopause is a natural part of aging and happens when the number of follicles in the ovaries begins to decrease, affecting estrogen production. Menopause can vary in duration from one to more than ten years, and it signifies the end of menstruation. However, the diagnosis of menopause is typically confirmed one year after menstruation has ceased. The period leading up to menopause, which extends to the subsequent 12 months, is known as perimenopause. Many women experience symptoms such as hot flashes, irregular menstrual cycles, sleep disturbances, vaginal dryness, hair loss, anxiety, mood swings, short-term memory loss, and fatigue during this period.

Symptoms of Perimenopause

Many middle-aged women experience symptoms associated with menopause, but these symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. Common symptoms include mood swings and hot flashes. A common early indicator of approaching menopause is irregular menstruation, but it can be challenging to determine whether one has actually entered menopause or is still fertile. If you are experiencing bothersome symptoms due to decreased estrogen production, such as menopause or transitional symptoms, there are medical treatments that can help.

Common symptoms include:

  • Mood swings
  • Sweating and hot flashes
  • Sleep problems
  • Depression
  • Dry and brittle mucous membranes in the genital area
  • Increased urination
  • Genital discomfort (often caused by elevated vaginal pH due to decreased estrogen production)

With our menopause test, you receive quick and reliable information about your hormonal profile, which can help you understand and manage the changes in your body during menopause and perimenopause.

FAQ

How is the Menopause test carried out?

Our Menopause test is a home test kit with instant results. After ordering, we will send you a kit with everything you need to perform the test yourself. Results are obtained within a few minutes.

Does this test give an exact value of my FSH levels?

No, only positive (above 25 mIU/ml) or negative. If you want to know your exact FSH level, we recommend one of our lab tests that measure FSH: the Menopause Test or the Female Hormones Test. (Also available in Fertility Basic or Advanced).

When should I take the test?

We recommend that you take the test from your first morning urine, as this contains the most hormones and provides the most accurate result. If you still menstruate, we suggest doing a test during the first week of your cycle and then conduct a second test after a week.

Can I trust the test result?

A clinical evaluation comparing the results from GetTested's Menopause Test with another commercial menopause test has been conducted. The clinical study included 250 urine samples where both analyses identified 85 positive and 165 negative results. The results showed 100% total accuracy of GetTested's Menopause Test compared to the other menopause test.
