About the Blood Type Test
GetTested’s Blood Type Test enables rapid and reliable determination of blood groups A, B, AB, or O. The test is based on an immunological method that detects A and B antigens in blood and shows the blood type through a clear reaction on the test cassette.
What is blood typing?
Blood typing follows the ABO system, which classifies blood into four main groups: A, B, AB, and O. The blood type is determined by the presence of specific antigens on red blood cells. Knowing your blood type can be valuable in medical contexts, such as blood transfusions or pregnancy.
How the test works
The Blood Type Test uses a solid-phase method where a blood sample is applied to the cassette. Monoclonal antibodies (anti-A and anti-B) are immobilized on the test surface. When the blood contacts these antibodies, a visible reaction occurs if the corresponding antigen is present. The test provides clear results within about one minute.
Advantages
• Rapid results (approx. 1 minute)
• Reliable method based on monoclonal antibodies
• Clear and easy-to-read results
Note
The test is intended for professional use within healthcare.
