Clostridioides difficile is a bacterium that can be present in the intestinal tract and may produce toxins, which are harmful substances that can irritate or damage the gut lining, in certain situations. Testing for this marker can help identify bacteria that may be relevant when there are signs of diarrhoea, gut inflammation, or disrupted microbiome balance. Presence alone does not always mean disease, especially without toxin related findings or symptoms.
