What is the Epstein-Barr Virus?
The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a common human virus belonging to the herpesvirus family. It is best known for causing infectious mononucleosis, also known as glandular fever. Most people get infected with EBV at some point in their lives, and the virus remains latent in the body afterward.
Common Symptoms of EBV Infection
Symptoms of a primary EBV infection vary but often include fever, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, sore throat, and an enlarged spleen. Symptoms can range in severity and duration but are usually most pronounced in teenagers and young adults.
About the Epstein Barr (EBV) Test
