Covid-19 Antibody Test at home
This antibody test shows if you have had covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2). It is performed at home, and then sent to our lab for analysis. A positive result means that you have had covid-19 and that your body has built up a protection by producing antibodies. The test is taken no earlier than 2-3 weeks after you have recovered. Everything you need to perform the test comes with the kit sent to you after you have placed your order.
This antibody test, also called the covid-19 test, measures the presence of IgG antibodies to see if you have had a covid-19 infection (SARS-CoV-2). You do not need to have had symptoms to have had the disease and if you still feel sick, we recommend that you take a PCR test instead. The test result will show if you have developed antibodies to covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2), if you have antibodies you will get a positive result. A negative result means that you have not developed antibodies to the disease.
The Covid-19 Antibody test is performed via a method called ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), which is an analytical technique designed to detect and quantify soluble substances such as peptides, proteins, antibodies and hormones. In this method, the antigen itself (the target macromolecule) is immobilized on a solid surface (microplate) and then complexed with an antibody that is linked to a reporter enzyme. Detection is accomplished by measuring the activity of the reporter enzyme via incubation with a suitable substrate to produce a measurable product. The most crucial element of an ELISA is a very specific antibody-antigen interaction.
