Instructions for Blood Test – Dried Blood Spot

We ask that you carefully follow the instructions when doing the blood test. If you are feeling any uncertainty or have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact our support team via e-mail or live chat.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STICK YOUR TEST-ID ON THE TEST BEFORE YOU SEND IT TO THE LAB. IF TEST-ID IS MISSING, THERE IS NOTHING THAT CONNECTS THE TEST TO YOU.

2. Wash your hands in hot water for about a minute. This will increase blood circulation in your fingers. Dry your hands. Doing a blood test without stimulating blood circulation might prove difficult (so please do not skip this step :).

3. Disinfect your “test finger” with the supplied disinfectant paper. Wait a few seconds until the finger is completely dry.

4. Rotate the yellow protective cover on the blood lancet to remove it. Use the extra lancet if you need to do another finger stick.

5. Place your hand on a flat surface. Put the lancet diagonally toward the test finger and press down the yellow button. Make sure the lancet is pressed against the finger the whole time.

6. We recommend that you stand up at this stage to let the blood in your arm flow downward. Help the blood drops come out by massaging the finger toward the needle stick.

7. Drip the blood onto the circles on the paper. Standing up will help. It is very important that you fill all the circles completely, otherwise the lab will not be able to complete the test and you will need to send in a new one.

8. Place the sticker with your unique test-ID onto the paper. Wait 2 hours for the blood to dry.

9. When the blood has dried for 2 hours, put the paper in the plastic cover it arrived in.

10. Put the plastic cover in the pre-stamped envelope and make sure to send it the same day (preferably a Monday or Tuesday).

Instructions for Blood Test – Test Tube

7. Transfer the blood drops into the test tube until the blood reaches the marked line. If it doesn’t reach the marked line, there won’t be enough blood for the lab to test. Please contact us if you have any trouble.

8. Place the sticker with your unique test-ID on the test tube. Place the test tube inside the transport tube and seal.

9. Put the tubes in the pre-stamped envelope and send it to the lab the same day, preferably a Monday or Tuesday. (The histamine and gluten test has to be sent in a Monday.)

Instructions for Saliva Test – Cortisol

Saliva samples for cortisol testing should be collected at 7 different times during the day, preferably Sunday or Monday. If you want to brush your teeth and floss, remember to do it at least 30 minutes before doing the test. If bleeding from the gums occurs, we recommend that you take the test at another time. Avoid eating, drinking, smoking, and chewing gum 30 minutes before the test starts. Also avoid drinking alcohol the night before.

The test needs saliva samples from 7 different times during the day:

1. As soon as you wake up.
2. 30 minutes after you wake up.
3. 1 hour after you wake up.
4. 2 hours after you wake up.
5. 5 hours after you wake up.
6. 8 hours after you wake up.
7. 12 hours after you wake up.

Store your tests in the fridge until you send them.

  • As soon as you wake up.

Instructions for Saliva Test – Estrogen & Melatonin Test

Saliva samples for estrogen testing should collected in the morning. We recommend that you take the test 1 week after ovulation, if you have a normal 28 day cycle that means somewhere during day 19-23.

Saliva samples for melatonin testing should collected on a Sunday evening, before going to bed. This is important since the test need to be sent to the lab on a Monday.

If you want to brush your teeth and floss, remember to do it at least 30 minutes before doing the test. If bleeding from the gums occurs, we recommend that you take the test at another time. Avoid eating, drinking, smoking, and chewing gum 30 minutes before the test starts. Also avoid drinking alcohol the night before.

Please note that intake of hormonal drugs and usage of lotions with hormones will affect the estrogen/progesterone result. We recommend that you avoid hormonal intake for at least 24 hours before doing the test unless you want the intake to be included in the result. Women should not do the test during menstruation. Store the test in the fridge until you send it to the lab.

Avoid eating, drinking, smoking, and chewing gum 30 minutes before the test starts. Also avoid drinking alcohol the night before.

  1. Carefully open the paper by pulling apart the edges by the arrows.

3. Place the paper on the toilet seat and fold the seat ring over it so that it stays in place. Place the paper a little further back on the toilet seat.

4. Collect the sample from the stool that should be on the paper. Using the spoon attached to the lid, scoop the feces into the test tube.

5. Be sure to fill the tube so that it reaches between the minimum and maximum line (preferably more towards maximum than minimum). Some stool tests require that you to fill several tubes. You must fill all the tubes that you have received. Close the lid. Place your test ID on the container. If you test histamine via stool, you will receive instructions for it separately in your test kit.

Histamine instructions in stool

  1. Please keep in mind that the tube contains liquid. Once you have opened the tube, it is important that you keep it upright until you close it again.

3. Hold the blue part of the tube and pull out the yellow dosing stick with the other hand. Make sure to keep the tube standing upright so the liquid doesn’t spill out.

4. Insert the dosing stick at 3 different places in the stool. The construction on the lower part of the dosing stick will pick up enough stool.

5. Put the dosing stick back in the tube. It is important that you do this only once, as that is enough. Excess feces will get collected in the blue part of the tube. The small amount collected for the sample is therefore sufficient. When you have inserted the dosing stick completely into the tube, turn it until you hear a click. Note that the solution will not change color – or very little – this is exactly right! It should not turn to brown.

  1. Put the tube in the transport container. Label the tube with your unique test ID. Put the transport container in the pre-stamped envelope (together with the other tubes if your test requires more than one tube).

8. Put the tube (or tubes) in the pre-stamped envelope. Send the test to the lab the same day (preferably a Monday).

Instructions for Breath Test

Your breath will be collected during a few hours. Remember to avoid eating or drinking something that contains the substance you are testing for. For example, if you are testing for lactose intolerance, avoid lactose products.

Your test kit comes with 5 glass containers. You will blow into the first container before drinking the fructose solution. The remaining 4 should be blown into certain times after drinking the fructose solution:

Glass 2: 30 minutes after drinking the fructose solution.
Glass 3: 1 hour after drinking the fructose solution.
Glass 4: 2 hours after drinking the fructose solution.
Glass 5: 3 hours after drinking the fructose solution.

3. Pour the powder into 300 ml of lukewarm water.

4. Take the mouthpiece with the bag and place it on the glass container that is labeled “TEST”. NOTE: Make sure you do not pierce or break the cork.

6. Blow through the mouthpiece into the bag. Just before you lose your breath, press down the mouthpiece through the glass container and pierce the cork.

7. Drink the water with the powder you made earlier.

  • Glass 2: 30 minutes after drinking the fructose solution.
  • Glass 3: 1 hour after drinking the fructose solution.
  • Glass 4: 2 hours after drinking the fructose solution.
  • Glass 5: 3 hours after drinking the fructose solution.

9. Place the glass containers into the return envelope. Seal and send the same day (preferably a Monday)

Instructions for Urine Test

The sample should be collected from your first morning urine. That means that only urine from the stream should be collected, not the first drops. 60 ml of urine must be collected in the cup. Remember to not drink more than 1 liter the night before.

Note that women should not do the test while menstruating.

3. Collect your morning urine in the cup. Collect from the streamflow and not from the first drops.

4. Use the pipette to extract urine from the cup, then push the urine out into the test tube. Make sure the entire tube is filled. Seal it carefully.
